Privacy Policy
Brainspotting Help (“we,” “us,” or “our”) operates brainspottinghelp.com (the “Site”) and provides international, volunteer-run pro bono psychological support, crisis counseling, and trauma healing services (the “Services”). We are fully committed to protecting your privacy and safeguarding any personal data you share with us.
This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and secure your information. By using our Site or Services, you acknowledge and agree to the data collection and processing practices described herein.
1. Information We Collect
To fulfill our humanitarian mission while minimizing data collection, we limit the information we gather to the following categories:
-
Personal Data Provided Voluntarily: When you complete an application, request support, or submit forms on our Site, we collect minimal contact details to communicate with you. This includes your name, email address, telephone number, and language preference.
-
Automatically Collected Technical Data: When you browse our Site, we automatically receive log data from your browser or device. This includes your anonymized IP address, device type, browser type, operating system, referring/exit URLs, and the date and time of your visit.
-
Cookies and Tracking Technologies: We utilize cookies (small text files stored on your device) to monitor usage patterns, remember preferences, and optimize your website experience. We separate cookies into session cookies (which expire when you close your browser) and persistent cookies (which remain until deleted).
2. Legal Basis and How We Use Your Information
We process your personal information strictly for legitimate, non-commercial purposes connected to our humanitarian project:
-
To evaluate applications and deliver pro bono psychological crisis intervention.
-
To communicate administrative updates, respond to your inquiries, or process volunteer requests.
-
To monitor website traffic, diagnose technical errors, and optimize site layout and performance.
We never sell, trade, rent, lease, or commercially share your personal information with third parties.
3. Sharing and Disclosure of Data
Your data is kept strictly confidential. It is only disclosed under the following controlled circumstances:
-
Trusted Operational Vendors: We share relevant personal information with third-party service providers (such as secure email delivery infrastructure or hosting providers) who act strictly as data processors under our instructions and in compliance with this policy.
-
Legal Obligation and Safety: We may disclose data if required by a valid legal framework, enforceable government subpoena, or court order. We also reserve the right to disclose data to prevent imminent fraud, secure our technical infrastructure, or protect the vital physical safety of our users, volunteers, or the public.
4. Data Access Controls and Internal Encryption
To guarantee the highest level of confidentiality for our applicants, all of your personal details (such as your email, full name, phone number, and messenger contact information) are strictly hidden from general staff members and system administrators. Your information is stored in password-protected, encrypted files. It is only accessible to your assigned therapist and translator to facilitate session delivery, and, on an as-needed basis only, to a designated coordinator, strictly when it is necessary for our coordinator to communicate with you directly for the purposes of matching you with a mental health professional.
5. Donations and Payment Processing
When you make a donation through our platform, your transaction is processed entirely off-site. We partner with Stripe Inc. to manage secure invoicing and payment gateways.
-
Brainspotting Help does not collect or store your payment card numbers or bank account credentials.
-
Stripe is certified to PCI Service Provider Level 1 (the highest standard in the payment industry) and secures all transactional communication using AES-256 and HTTPS/SSL encryption protocols.
-
By executing a payment, you agree to comply with both this policy and Stripe's independent privacy guidelines.
6. Data Security and Retention
We deploy industry-standard electronic, technological, and administrative security measures, including firewalls, encryption protocols, and Secure Socket Layer (SSL) technology, to prevent unauthorized access, loss, alteration, or disclosure of data.
Your personal records are stored on secure servers protected by advanced firewall systems. We retain your personal data only as long as necessary to complete your specific requests, manage volunteer agreements, or comply with our organizational legal and regulatory archiving obligations. While we maintain rigorous security protections, no digital system is completely immune to breach; by utilizing our Services, you acknowledge these inherent global network risks.
