Our Support Policies

Brainspotting Help provides short-term online trauma support and crisis counseling for individuals affected by war,  disaster or other community-wide crisis. Below are the core guidelines and policies that govern our program to ensure a safe, respectful, and effective environment for everyone.

Therapeutic Methods

Our professionals tailor therapy methods to your unique situation and needs.

  • Brainspotting is the primary modality. It is a highly effective approach to processing and releasing emotional trauma without requiring you to fully verbalize or relive your experiences.

  • Your support provider may also combine multiple modalities to best support you.

Number of Sessions

  • Our flexible support model offers up to 5 sessions.

  • Your professional determines the exact number based on your unique situation.

Scheduling and Appointments

The practitioners on our platform are independent professionals volunteering their time, not employees of Brainspotting Help.

  • Once we match you with a provider, you are responsible for coordinating appointment times directly with them.

  • Because our professionals volunteer their time, slots may be limited. We ask that you remain reasonably flexible regarding scheduling.

  • If you run into persistent scheduling conflicts due to work, family, or time zones, notify your support provider first. If issues persist, contact your Brainspotting Help coordinator to discuss a new match.

Cancellations and No-Shows

We understand that sometimes it's necessary to cancel or postpone a session, but please do so at least 24 hours in advance.

  • A no-show will result in case closure.

  • These rules do not apply to individuals in active war zones experiencing sudden communication disruptions or threats to safety.

Confidentiality and Privacy

Your privacy is protected by law, with strict parameters in place to keep your information secure.

  • Please ensure you participate from a private, quiet space.

  • Practitioners may use professional, confidential supervision to consult on cases without revealing your identity.

  • Confidentiality exceptions apply in specific cases: if a therapist believes there is an imminent risk of self-harm, harm to others, or in cases of child abuse, neglect, or exploitation.

Safeguarding

Our ability to provide online support depends on ensuring your safety. If safeguarding concerns arise, such as a risk of harm to yourself or others, or issues involving the abuse or neglect of vulnerable individuals, online support may no longer be adequate or appropriate.

Consequently, we are ethically and legally required to prioritize safety, which may involve pausing your online sessions and referring you to specialized local crisis or emergency services, operating within your specific country and legal jurisdiction that are better equipped to provide the necessary care.
